MOTIVATION OF THE DAY - THE RIGHT WORKING ATTITUDE

SUBJECT: ATTITUDE
There is one company "manufacturing combs" which intends to expand its business and therefore, the management needs to employ a new Sales Manager.
The company advertised the vacancy in the newspaper. Many people turned up for the interview daily....adding up to almost a hundred interviewees in just few days.
The Company now faces the problem in choosing the right candidate for this position. So the Company’s HR manager sets out a task to those who wanted to come for the final interview.
The task: Selling Combs To Monks In Temples
Only 3 applicants are willing to stay on for this Final Interview challenge:- A,B and C
The HR manager instructed: "Now I want three of you to sell these wooden combs to the monks in the temples. You only have 10 days to do it and report to me."
After 10 days, they reported.
The HR manager asked A: "How many have you sold?"
A answered: "Only One."
HR manager asked: "How did you manage to sell one?
A answered: "The monks in the temple scolded me when I showed them the comb but on my way downhill, I met a young monk who bought it to scratch his head due to dandruff.”
The HR manager then asked B: "How many did you sell?
B replied: "10 pieces. I went to a shrine and noticed that many devotees' hair were in a mess due to strong winds outside the shrine. The monk listened to my advice and bought 10 combs for their devotees as a mark of respect to Buddha."
Then, the HR manager asked C: "What about you?"
C replied: "1,000 units."
The HR manager and the other 2 interviewees were astounded.
HR manager asked: "How did you do that?"
C replied: "I went to a famous temple. After observing for a few days, I discovered that there were many tourists. I then told the Chief Abbot there. "Sifu, those who come here are very devoted. If you could give them a gift, it will be more elating to them. I told him that I have a bulk of combs here and asked him to put his signature on the combs as a present to these visitors. He was very delighted and immediately ordered 1,000 pieces."

MORAL OF THE STORY:
HARVARD UNIVERSITY did a research:-
1) 85% of success is due to attitude and 15% is capability
2) Attitude is more important than intelligence, specials skills or luck..

In other words, professional knowledge only constitutes for 15% success factor while 85% is due to self-cultivation, public relations and adaptability.
Still remember the story of Selling Shoes to Africans?
When 2 Salesmen were sent to Africa , one of them reported: “Cannot do it. No one wears shoes over there !”
The second salesman said: "It is good to market. A lot of opportunities. "
Success and Failure is dependent on how we face problems.
Remember, when the economic is good, there are people going bankrupt.
When business is bad, there are many new millionaires as well. So apply the 85% of the right working attitude fully.
Something 2 Share:
I believe this basic principle of 85% right working attitude is also applicable to Plantation Management.
Many problems encountered by planters can be overcome because they are not as difficult as "selling comb to the monks". Logically, it's impossible for the monk to buy a comb to comb hair. Monks in temples are simply not your customers!
With this story, we learn to "think out of the box" and even with 15% capability, we are confident to solve problems as long as we have the RIGHT WORKING ATTITUDE, COMMITMENT, DISCIPLINED, DEDICATED and DETERMINED.
Every time when we watch MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, the ending is always POSSIBLE.

DO NOT FIND EXCUSES NOT TO DO THE POSSIBLE BUT INSTEAD, FIND WAYS AND MEANS TO DO THE POSSIBLE. That's the right working attitude!

LIVE MOVES IN CIRCLE

Dear Colleagues & Brothers;

In the journey of life, everyone is faced with various hardships. These hardships are like onerous borders lay upon one’s shoulder. Therefore, to lead a better and carefree life, the following suggestions should be taken into consideration.

Life moves in circle. Moods of depression will be followed by periods of confidence and optimism like night follows day.

Accept the responsibilities that are imposed upon you. Do not shirk them. Do not drift through life without purpose. Be worthy of your manhood and do not get buffeted about.

Live for the day and fill it with worthy deeds. Fill it with positive and constructive efforts. Be forgetful of the past and confident about the future.

Do not drag the past behind you. Be imaginative to a certain extent, but avoid wishful thinking. Do not fuss and be regretful of the wrong which you have done. Learn from your mistakes. Preparation does not live in regret. Live triumphantly to the full. Life is to live.

Throughout a man’s life, happiness is mingled with anger. However, always avoid anger and fear. Anger is never justified. It is only a shadow of ignorance. Do not be proud because you can become angry. It will poison your body. Fear is the worst of all vices. Very few of yours fear are realized.

Insincerity is irritating and painful. Do you feel it? Therefore, always be sincere and honest. No man can achieve greatness without it, yet the most humble may be honored if he possessed it. It is better to be an honest rebel than to pretend loyalty to any person or cause.

Do not take it for granted that good health is a blessing. Do your almost to preserve it by wise living. A weak body will never be able to accomplish a satisfactory task. Do not abuse yourself by adopting foolish habits such as sabotage other person achievement; smoking opium, drinking and faulty thinking.

Substitute hatred and jealousy with love and sympathetic understanding. It is easy to hate and envy others. So, why not try the alternative though difficult-love and understanding. No ingenious man wants a soft life. If you show love and understanding, you will not be surprised to find yourself loved in turn by everyone.

Nobody in this world is perfect; but one should have the courage to live near perfection. Thus, always aim for perfection in your life. Please keep telling yourself; I’m here in the organization, I’m here in this country, I’m here in this community: to be a contributor not a passenger!

If you pursue this, your happiest day will come and the meaning of life will be understood.

Regards.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE (PMO)

SEVEN (7) MARKS OF GREAT PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE

It’s been said that all happy couples look the same. All of the best PMOs share certain characteristics which endear them to management and the project managers they support.

1. Projects Align with Organizational Goals

At some level, every project is conceived to provide some benefit to the organization. The business case, charter and scope ideally describe this in an understandable way. A good PMO ensures that all projects worked in an organization have benefits that truly align to the most important needs and objectives of the business. If the nature of the business environment changes significantly, a good PMO will decide what impact if any this will have on the active projects. Sometimes projects need to be redefined, shelved or even cancelled. If a project’s benefits are no longer benefits, it makes no sense to continue working the project.

2. Project Success Rates Increase

A good PMO ensures that all needed resources are available and allocated before the start of the project. The PMO monitors the project plan and budget throughout the lifecycle to ensure that the project remains on track, and that resources are available as needed. As large risks present themselves, the PMO may help in brokering solutions which are best for everyone involved. These activities increase the number of projects completed on time, on budget and in scope.

3. Project Management Competence Increases

Organizations with good project management offices find that the skill and competence of project management activities improve over time. PMP Certification is common. As important is the establishment of formal or informal mentoring programs for all project managers. Mentoring increases networking relationships, provides practical guidance for newer project managers, and contributes to a team culture in the organization.

4. Standards and Templates are Developed and Improved

A good PMO provides useful, practical and helpful project templates. These templates are revised as often as necessary to ensure that the right type of documentation is being created. Clear guidance is provided to ensure that the minimum numbers of documents are created for any particular project.

5. PMO Tone is Inviting

The PMO is considered a partner and resource rather than a bully. The compliance aspect is deemphasized. Learning and Improvement are embraced.

6. Training is Available

A good PMO offers more than one class a year. Free training is available in multiple formats and in various ways. There may be online sessions. Classroom training may be provided. An open door policy may be in effect for a few hours every day. There may be a constantly monitored IM (instant messaging) or chat account available to any PM with a question at any time.

7. Learning is Embraced

The PMO members seek out feedback and incorporate it into project management office policies and activities. Lessons learned are included in projects and in the PMO itself. The PMO looks for ways to continually increase its value up (to management) and down (to project managers).

EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE WITH RIGHT ATTITUDE

PART 1: INTRODUCTION

Don’t compare yourself with any one in this world. If you compare, you are insulting yourself.

No one will manufacture a lock without a key. Similarly, The Almighty God won’t give problems without solutions.

Life laughs at you when you unhappy...Life smiles at you when you are happy..Life salutes you when you make others happy....

Every successful person has a painful story. Every painful story has a successful ending. Accept the pain and get ready for success.

Easy is it to judge the mistakes of others. Difficult is to recognize our own mistakes.

It is easier to protect your feet with slippers than to cover the earth with carpet.

No one can go back and change a bad beginning; but anyone can start now and create a successful ending.

If a problem can be solved, no need to worry about it. If a problem cannot be solved what is the use of worrying?

If you miss an opportunity don’t fill the eyes with tears. It will hide another better opportunity in front of you.

“Changing the face” can change nothing. But “facing the Change” can change everything.

Don’t complain about others; Change yourself if you want to be as an Outstanding Performer Staff.

Mistakes are painful when they happen. But year’s later collection of mistakes is called experience, which leads to success.

Be bold when you loose and be calm when you win. Heated gold becomes ornament. Beaten copper becomes wires. Depleted stone become statue. So the more pain you get in life you become more valuable.

PART 2: KEY POINTS TO SUCCESS

It is amazing how one’s world turns around with just the right attitude. Having the right attitude changes one’s perspective dramatically.

It encourages rather than discourages. It motivates rather than interferes.

It helps achieve rather than procrastinate and it makes everyone into better people.

When you feel that you can no longer achieve or finish a certain task, just having the right attitude pushes you on to your maximum potential, and you will eventually achieve in the end.

Right attitude encourages you to achieve a goal that you have set for yourself and ultimately what others have set for you.

There is no reason to be discouraged with the right attitude.

Having the right attitude is like shining a bright light to whatever path you choose to take.

You won’t get lost with this type of guidance and you won’t stray from the path as well.

It will help you become more dedicated to reach the end of your journey, whether for a successful career or for self-discovery and improvement.

The right attitude will help you achieve great things in life. At work, procrastination won’t be an option with the right attitude.

You would be constantly working for better things to ensure you a better life in the future.

Come to think of it, with the right attitude, a promotion won’t be far off and a stable life condition! Financial, family, etc.
