Your Positive Remarks of the day

Dear Colleagues & Brothers;

In the journey of life, everyone is faced with various hardships. These hardships are like onerous borders lay upon one’s shoulder. Therefore, to lead a better and carefree life, the following suggestions should be taken into consideration.
Life moves in circle. Moods of depression will be followed by periods of confidence and optimism like night follows day.

Accept the responsibilities that are imposed upon you. Do not shirk them. Do not drift through life without purpose. Be worthy of your manhood or womanhood and do not get buffeted about.

Live for the day and fill it with worthy deeds. Fill it with positive and constructive efforts. Be forgetful of the past and confident about the future.
Do not drag the past behind you. Be imaginative to a certain extent, but avoid wishful thinking. Do not fuss and be regretful of the wrong which you have done. Learn from your mistakes. Preparation does not live in regret. Live triumphantly to the full. Live is to live.

Throughout a man’s life, happiness is mingled with anger. However, always avoid anger and fear. Anger is never justified. It is only a shadow of ignorance. Do not be proud because you can become angry. It will poison your body. Fear is the worst of all vices. Very few of yours fear are realized.

Insincerity is irritating and painful. Do you feel it? Therefore, always be sincere and honest. No man can achieve greatness without it, yet the most humble may be honored if he possessed it. It is better to be an honest rebel than to pretend loyalty to any person or cause.

Do not take it for granted that good health is a blessing. Do your almost to preserve it by wise living. A weak body will never be able to accomplish a satisfactory task. Do not abuse yourself by adopting foolish habits such as sabotage other person achievement; smoking opium, drinking and faulty thinking.

Substitute hatred and jealousy with love and sympathetic understanding. It is easy to hate and envy others. So, why not try the alternative though difficult-love and understanding. No ingenious man wants a soft life. If you show love and understanding, you will not be surprised to find yourself loved in turn by everyone.

Nobody in this world is perfect; but one should have the courage to live near perfection. Thus, always aim for perfection in your life. Please keep telling yourself; I’m here in the organization, I’m here in this country, I’m here in this community: to be a contributor not a passenger!

If you pursue this, your happiest day will come and the meaning of life will be understood.

MAKING OUTPLACEMENT A PART OF TALENT MANAGEMENT (KT)

Making outplacement a part of talent management.

Companies should incorporate outplacement into their talent management strategy rather than as a knee-jerk reaction to retrenchments, said The Ayers Group founder and vice-president William Ayers.According to the group’s recent white paper, Integrating Career Transitions into the Total Talent Strategy, released early this month, integrating outplacement or career transition early into the corporate strategy would not only equip staff for turbulent times but would also establish the company as an employer of choice.

Outplacement refers to the practice of employers assisting retrenched employees find new jobs, usually via a third-party outplacement firm. “It works to your advantage because you are seen as a caring organisation,” Ayers said in an interview in April, during which he discussed the findings of the white paper that was released early this month.Being retrenched is demoralising and stressful, he noted, but outplacement helps individuals rediscover their confidence as they learn to effectively prepare themselves for the future. “Outplacement is a comprehensive process people tend to oversimplify.”

Services offered by The Ayers Group include job search, customised career transition, resume development, interviewer training and network development. A partner firm of Career Partners International, an organisation of human resources consulting firms, The Ayers Group was acquired by outsourcing and consulting agency Kelly Services Inc in 2006.Ayers said outplacement is not just relevant during the current volatile economic environment, when retrenchments are on the rise, but even when the economy recovers. Besides offshoring (transferring service operations to foreign countries due to the supply of skilled but relatively cheap labour in those countries), mergers and acquisitions result in redundancies as well. “Where they won’t need two people to do the same function, they eliminate one and outplacement steps in,” he said.

Furthermore, what goes around comes around, added Ayers. “The person you retrench will become a competitor, a client or a possible rehired employee in future. If you treat them well on the way they’re exited, they will treat you well in the community.” Conversely, disgruntled employees can take to the grapevine and tarnish the company’s reputation, which would affect future hires as well, he said.How companies retrench staff also has an impact on those who remain, said Laletha Nithiyanandan, Asia-Pacific vice-president of Kelly Outsourcing and Consulting Group, the outsourcing and consulting division of Kelly Inc.Existing employees who see their colleagues leaving badly will lose faith in the company and morale falls.“Survivors are the future lifeblood of that practice.

Those who feel cheated will not perform well and become poor corporate citizens,” said Ayers, adding that this would prove disadvantageous for the company. Placing outplacement at the heart of a company’s talent management strategy would also better prepare line managers and human resource managers in the event that they are asked to “let go” of staff, he said. “People who have terminated people in the past make the assumption that they know how to do it. But when you have done it the wrong way before, you repeat your mistakes every time,” he said. Workshops on “no-fault termination training” help hiring managers in areas such as how to effectively relay bad news to employees and when to pass the individual to an outplacement consultant.

Ayers said the group emphasised “high-touch”, referring to a lower counsellor-employee ratio of around 35 to 45 individuals per counsellor, compared with competitors that have 100 to 150 clients to each counsellor. He likened the “high-touch” principle to gym goers and their coach. “If they have a coach to motivate them, they work out more often and more effectively. As coaches, we keep you on track by picking up the phone to motivate you.”

CONTRACT WORK NOW POPULAR IN MALAYSIA (KATHLEEN T)

MORE Malaysian professionals are now willing to consider contract work in view of the challenging economic scenario, according to recruitment consultancy Robert Walters. In its online poll, more than half (51%) of the Malaysian respondents said they would consider contract work if there were no permanent options, while 30% said they would happily take on contract work. Only 19% flatly turned down the option.

While there is no comparative local data of attitudes towards contract work in good times, Robert Walters said that based on observation, the poll results showed an increased openness. The poll surveyed 4,288 respondents from 17 countries at the beginning of this year. Results were released in mid-April. Conversely, more than half (55%) of all respondents worldwide said they would be happy to take on contracting, while one-third (33%) would do so only in the absence of permanent roles.

Twelve percent of respondents globally would not consider contract work at all.Compared with Malaysia, a higher percentage of professionals in Thailand (53%), Hong Kong (42%), China (42%) and Japan (37%) were happy to take on contract work, suggesting more openness towards this practice.

Professionals in Western countries were even keener, with two-thirds (68%) of British respondents happy to take on a contract role, followed closely by New Zealand (63%) and the US (61%).“Contracting has been part of the working culture in the West for a long time, whereas contracting is only beginning to take off in Asia,” explained Robert Walters Malaysia country manager Ross Mckenzie in a phone interview.He added that some companies in the Western markets offer contract work as an extended way of managing head count, “like an extended internship”.

Many in Western countries enjoy the flexibility that contract work provides, said Mckenzie, as the ability to move among companies allowed them to acquire new skills.While rates were higher in mature contracting markets like the US and the UK, the lower rates in Asia were offset by annual employee benefits.“In the West, you’re paid for the work you do.

When you don’t work, you’re not paid and you don’t get employee benefits,” he explained.Mckenzie said that in a tough economic scenario, temporary recruitment was a way for employers to control head count without forgoing productivity.Established in 1985, Robert Walters places permanent, contract and temporary positions at all management levels. It has 38 offices across 17 countries

PAHANG - SELANGOR INTER-STATE RAW WATER TRANSFER PROJECT

WWF-Malaysia has voiced its concerns over the Pahang-Selangor Inter-state Raw Water Transfer Project (ISRWT) project via the project’s Detailed Environmental Impact Assessment (DEIA) and Environmental Management Plan (EMP) review and stakeholders’ consultation process as soon as the proposed project was announced to the public in 2000.

WWF-Malaysia is currently a member of the Project Technical Committee – formed following the approval of the DEIA in 2001 – chaired by the Ministry of Water, Energy and Communication with members comprising inter-government agencies from federal government and the Pahang and Selangor States, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and representatives from affected local communities.

Through this committee, WWF-Malaysia provides its views and recommendations with the aim to ensure conservation and environmental considerations are sufficiently incorporated into the project. WWF-Malaysia intends to recommend to the Technical Committee the establishment of an independent environmental audit to appraise the project during its construction and operational phases as a check and balance measure.

While WWF-Malaysia recognizes the government’s rationale for the Pahang-Selangor ISRWT as a strategy to address water shortage problems in Selangor, we are equally concerned with the environmental, social and financial implications of such a large-scale project.

In the long term, WWF-Malaysia disagrees that physical infrastructure development such as dams and water transfer schemes between river basins would be a sustainable option on the basis that this approach more often than not tends to be very costly not only economically and socially, but also in terms of the environmental trade-offs and costs. There are important lessons to be learned from the Pahang-Selangor ISRWT project. This project demonstrates the urgent need for implementation of integrated planning and management of water resources for tackling problems of water shortage. Building of more dams and inter-basin water transfer schemes alone will not solve the problems.

Instead, effective implementation of integrated water resources management must be realized by ensuring more efforts and investments are directed to more cost-effective and less detrimental measures such as:

(a) changing the current system of supply driven to demand driven management of water resources;

(b) reducing the rate of non-revenue water (NRW) by improving water distribution system and increasing monitoring, enforcement and penalty to tackle water theft;

(c) effective protection and management of water catchment forests and rivers;

(d) introduction of economic instruments such as better water supply pricing systems that internalize environmental costs and incentives to consumers to encourage water saving and to reduce water wastage;

(e) intensifying programmes to educate and increase awareness of Malaysians regarding water conservation practices;

(f) application of water saving systems and devices in residential and commercial centres.

BETTER SAVE THAN SORRY

Someone shares the following cases :

(1) Today i passed by a building which has an ATM machine... There was an old man looking at me.. suddenly called me. He said he didn't know how to read, so he gave me his ATM card and
asked me to help him withdraw money from the ATM machine. I answered 'NO!! If you need help, ask the security to help you 'Then he said 'nevermind.. ' and continued to find other people to help him.... REMEMBER : ATM machines have CCTVs. If you help him he will later claim that you have robbed him or stolen his ATM card. Besides,his ATM card could be a stolen one. So please be careful of these frauds.

(2) Suddenly your house lights go off. From your window you find that! your neighbors still have lights. So you go out of your house to check the Meter Box. But once you open the door, a knife will be pointing at you and preventing you from closing it. This is when you will be robbed and injured robbed and injured REMEMBER : Even though your electricity suddenly goes off, DO NOT openyour door immediately. Look around to see if there is anything unusual or if there is any noise around.

(3) This is another incident.. You may have heard it before, It just about a lady who she saw a kid crying by the roadside. When she spoke to the kid, the kid told her he was lost and wanted her to take him home. The kid even gave her a paper with his house address. So she took him home. But when she rang the door bell she had an electric shock. Later when she woke up, she was naked in an empty room. REMEMBER : Being such a compassionate and helpful person
might not be a good thing these days. Pass this on and girls, please be careful...DON'T BE TOO KIND!!

(4) One day, there was an old lady outside my house holding 2 packets of sweets. At first I thought she was our neighbor and wanted to give us these packs of sweets as a gift.. But then when she spoke, I can realized that she is a foreigner. I could not understand what she was talking about. I guessed she must be asking for money. I sensed there was something wrong and immediately closed the door and ignored her. Later, I found she with an accomplice robbed someone else down the road....

(5) I was at the ATM machine to withdraw some money. Behind me, there was an old lady.
She asked me whether I was able to withdraw my money because she said she had problem with her machine. Suddenly a small girl came up beside me. The small girl was squeezing in front of me. I thought she was just naughty and playful. But then, the small girl put her hand at the hole of my ATM machine where the money comes out, ready to take away my money. I sensed something wrong and immediately pushes her away. Later I realized that the small girl and the old lady worked together. She was trying to steal my money while the old lady was trying to
distract my attention by asking me questions!! REMEMBER: BE VERY CAREFUL when you are at an ATMmachine and be alert. Look out for anyone suspicious around you

(6) My parents are retired and stay at home most days. One afternoon, a young stranger went to their house and said his motorcycle had no more petrol and the petrol station was too far for him to push his bike there. So he asked my parents for an empty coke bottle to buy some petrol.
He said he will pay RM2 for the bottle. So my mum took one coke bottle for him. He really took out the money from his pocket, but it was a RM 100 note. He told my mum he had no small change and asked my mum to give him the change. Luckily my mum was smart.. She just told him to take it for free. REMEMBER : obviously that note is fake!! Who would want to pay for RM2 for an empty coke bottle!! It's very OBVIOUS that that stranger is a trickster.

(7) This happened in Bali . A newly married couple were having their honeymoon at the hotel.
When both are in the changing room, the wife suddenly went missing. The husband was very anxious and went around to find her.. He asked the hotel staff to help him find her. Then he thought his wife was just playing hide and seek. So he went back and waited for his wife. After a few hours, he decided to call the police. 3 weeks passed and there was still no news about his missing wife. So he went back and was very dissapointed and sad. A few years later, he came back to Bali , to watch a 'FREAK SHOW' in an old house. He saw a dirty and rusty metal cage. Inside there was a lady without limbs Her body including the face was full of scars. When he had a closer look at her face, he was shocked to find that it was her missing wife put there as a means for begging.

(8) This happened in Shanghai . A few yeas ago, a lady reported to the police that her cousin sister was missing in the shopping complex... But after 5 years, one of her friends found her cousin sister begging at one of the road side in Bangkok , Thailand . The worst thing is that her cousin sister has no more limbs and her body was tied to a lamp post with a shackle (metal chain).

(9) Let's just shorten this story. DO NOT open your house door when you hear the sound of a BABY CRYING!! It might be a trap! Women in the house must be alert to this trick. The police said it is the work of a robber or murderer using the recording of a baby crying to attract your attention. This normally happens at night and when you are only alone in the house be especially.

(10) I read an email that was sent by my friend. Her friend, known as A, went to Lo Hu Commercial City with 2 friends, B and C. Lo Hu Commercial City is the Shenzhen counterfeit goods distribution center. There are many people there. It's also near to the Shenzhen train station and Hong Kong 's Lo Hu Port. C went to the toilet at the shopping center while A and B waited outside. After waiting for a long while, they felt uneasy and went into the toilet to look for her. When they went in, there were nobody inside there. Both were very frightened and they called C's phone.. There was no one answered. So they reported to the police. The police asked them whether they had seen anybody suspicious going into the toilet. Both said there were none and its impossible to bring a life person out of the toilet without them noticing! .. Then A remembered seeing a cleaner pushing a trolley in, and then coming out. The police told them that was not the 1st time such a thing happened. The police suspected a gang of criminals who were always attacking women in the the toilet of shopping complexes. They use cleaners to kidnap people to harvest their organs for sale. REMEMBER : please be careful when using the toilet. Do not go to the wash room or toilet ALONE!! Please at least have a partner with you.

LAST WORDS OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD (PUBH)

kullun nafsin zaa ikatul maut- every soul will face death

Suddenly, there was a person, he said salaam. 'May I come in?' he asked. But Fatimah did not allow him enter the room. 'I'm sorry, my father is ill,' said Fatimah, turned her body back and closed the door. She went back to her father who had opened his eyes and asked Fatimah, 'Who was he, my daughter ?'
'I don't know, my father. It was the first time for me to see him,' Fatimah said gently. Then, Rasulullah looked at his daughter with trembled look, as if he wanted to reminisce about every part of her daughter's face. 'Know one thing! He is who erases the temporary pleasure; he is who separates the companionship in the world. He is the death angel,' said Rasulullah.

Fatimah bore the bomb of her cry. The death angel came toward him, But Rasulullah asked why Jibril did not come along with him. Then, Jibril was called. Jibril was ready in the sky to welcome the soul of Habibullah and the leader of the earth. 'O Jibril, explain me about my rights in front of ALLAH?' Rasulullah asked with a weakest voice. 'The doors of sky have opened, the angels are waiting for your soul.'
'All jannats open widely waiting for you,' Jibril said. But, in fact, all this did not make Rasulullah relieved, his eyes were still full of worry. 'You are not happy to hear this news?' asked Jibril. 'Tell me about the destiny of my people in future?'

'Don't worry, O Rasul ALLAH. I heard ALLAH tell me: 'I make jannat haram for every one, except the people of Muhammad who are inside it,' Jibril said. It became closer and closer, the time for Malaekat Izrail to do his work. Slowly, Rasulullah's soul was pulled. It was seemed that the body of Rasulullah was full of sweat; the nerves of his neck became tight. 'Jibril, how painful this sakaratul maut is!' Rasulullah uttered a groan slowly. Fatimah closed her eyes, Ali sat beside her bowed deeply and Jibril turned his face back.

'Am I repugnant to you that you turn your face back o Jibril ?' Rasulullah asked the Deliverer of Wahy.
‘Who is the one who could see the Habibullah in his condition of sakaratul maut,' Jibril said. Not for a while, Rasulullah uttered a groan because of unbearable pain. 'O ALLAH, how great is this sakaratul maut. Give me all these pains, don't give it to my people.'The body of Rasulullah became cold, his feet and chest did not move anymore ...His lips vibrated as if he wanted to say something, Ali took his ear close to Rasulullah. 'Uushiikum bis salati, wa maa malakat aimanuku - take care of the saalat and take care the weak people among you.'

Outside the room, there were cries shouted each other, sahabah held each other. Fatimah closed her face with her hands and, again, Ali took his ear close to Rasulullah's mouth which became bluish. 'Ummatii, ummatii, ummatii?' - 'My people, my people, my people.' And the life of the noble man ended. Could we love each other like him? Allahumma salle 'ala Muhammad wa baarik wa sallim 'alaihi. How deep is Rasulullah's love to us.
